DESCRIPTION

The GSA FAS Headquarters occupies a newly renovated eleven story office building in Crystal City, VA near the Pentagon. The end user agency was designated to lead the project which included the project management, design layout, procurement, and installation of the interior furnishings.

CHALLENGE

The GSA FAS Headquarters was challenged with designing flexible space for efficient office reconfigurations over the life of the project. In addition, a planned merger with another agency would require reconfiguring a significant number of the two hundred private offices and high tech video conference rooms.

SOLUTION

The design team created a flexible environment that could adapt to the changing organization with minimum disruption, dust, down-time, and dollars. Key to the flexibility was the Nello Moveable Wall System’s ability to reconfigure private offices and conference rooms literally overnight. The design used frosted glass panels to allow light to disperse throughout the space creating an open, airy environment. The flexible base power supply feeds power to office outlets, in panel ADA outlets, and video screen panel outlets.
